If you’re rushing to look extra good for a special occasion and you find that you’re looking a little bloated or swollen, here’s how you can drop that excess water:

1. Reduce your sodium intake

Reducing your sodium intake will allow you to drop some water because the water stores water as a response to excess sodium in the body. Instead of adding salt for seasoning, you can always put salt-free seasonings like Mrs. Dash to add flavor to your food. Sodium-free does not mean flavor-free!

2. Drink lots of water – aim for a gallon a day

The body holds onto water if you are not drinking enough. By ensuring that you have at least a gallon a day, your body will be convinced that it has enough water on a regular basis, so it won’t be storing any additional water as a means of survival.

3. Asparagus

Asparagus is a common diet staple, but not many people know the reason why. Asparagus is actually a natural diuretic and will help you drop that additional water on a cellular level. Asparagus is also low calorie, so it will be relatively easy to fit it into your food plan.

4. Spinach

Spinach is full of vitamins and minerals, but it is also another diuretic that is easily incorporated into your diet. Use it in a shake, or make a salad with it. The possibilities are endless!
