shutterstock_228298228A little troubleshooting is a normal stage of weight loss. At some point, your progress may stall, and it’s going to take a little pick-me-up to get things going again. If you find that your weight loss is no longer moving forward, try these tips to power through those plateaus:

1. Take a break.

If you’re exercising intensely on top of dieting, you may be due for some rest and relaxation. Take a week off and really pamper yourself—get a massage, take long baths with Epsom salts, have a few cheat meals or treats, and re-evaluate which areas have room for improvement.

2. Adaptation

The body is a remarkable thing. It adapts to change, so it’s only a matter of time until it gets used to your diet and exercise routines. Change things up a bit to shock your body out of adaptation. You don’t have to do a complete 180, though. Just change up the weight or resistance level of your exercises, or change up some of your food options for meals.

3. Stress

Stress can eat away at your progress more than you think. It can be from overthinking or something like lack of sleep. These stressors increase the hormone cortisol in the body, which is one of the culprits for body fat storage in the midsection. Make sure good quality sleep, rest and recovery are part of your routine.

These are the possible reasons as to why you may not be progress with your weight loss anymore. It could be one of these, or a combination of them so make sure to observe possible problem areas.
